About This Journey

This journey is designed for travelers who want to experience Emei Mountain beyond sightseeing. Beginning with the Leshan Giant Buddha, the route opens with one of China’s most powerful Buddhist landscapes, where mountain, river, and devotion come together in monumental form. From there, the journey moves into Emei Mountain and slows down inside a monastery stay. The second day follows the rhythm of monastic life: morning chanting, vegetarian meals, Emei wellness practice, quiet reading, meditation, sound healing, scripture copying, and rest. Rather than observing Buddhism from outside, guests are invited to feel how practice shapes time, body, breath, and daily life. On the final day, the journey rises to the Golden Summit, the spiritual high point of Emei Mountain, before returning to the human scale of Luomu Ancient Town. Through a traditional soy sauce craft experience, guests encounter another kind of practice — one shaped by beans, sunlight, fermentation, patience, and local hands. This is not simply a Leshan and Emei sightseeing route. It is a journey into sacred landscape, monastic rhythm, and the everyday craft of Sichuan.

Day by Day

Day 1
Chengdu · Leshan Giant Buddha · Emei Shanju Monastery

Depart from Chengdu in the morning and travel to Leshan. The journey begins with the Leshan Giant Buddha, a monumental cliff-carved Buddha facing the meeting of rivers. Rather than treating it only as a famous landmark, the visit introduces the relationship between Buddhist devotion, water, mountain, and protection in Sichuan’s spiritual geography.
After lunch in Leshan, continue toward Emei Mountain and arrive at Emei Shanju Monastery. The afternoon is kept gentle, allowing guests to check in, slow down, and adjust to the rhythm of monastery life.
Depending on the monastery arrangement, the evening may include a simple orientation, temple walk, vegetarian dinner, or quiet tea conversation. The first night is designed for rest, preparing guests for the full monastic practice day to come.
Overnight: Emei Shanju Monastery

Day 2
Emei Mountain: A Day of Monastic Rhythm

峨眉山居禅院修行日
This is the heart of the journey.
Guests spend a full day following the quiet rhythm of monastery life at Emei Mountain. The day begins early with morning chanting and vegetarian breakfast, followed by Emei wellness practice. The afternoon slows into reading, stillness, seated meditation, and sound healing. In the evening, guests may join scripture copying, prayer, or a peaceful monastery hot spring experience, depending on the day’s arrangement.
This day is not designed as a strict training camp. Guests may join selected sessions according to their energy and comfort level. The purpose is to experience how monastic time feels: slower, quieter, more disciplined, and more attentive to body and mind.
Overnight: Emei Shanju Monastery

Day 3
Golden Summit · Luomu Ancient Town · Chengdu

峨眉金顶|罗目古镇古法酱油体验|返回成都
After breakfast, depart early for the Golden Summit of Emei Mountain. The visit brings the journey to its spiritual high point, where temple architecture, mountain light, clouds, and the Ten-Faced Samantabhadra statue create one of Emei’s most iconic sacred landscapes.
After descending the mountain, continue to Luomu Ancient Town, a quieter old town near Emei. Here, the journey turns from sacred summit to local life. Guests visit a traditional soy sauce craft space and learn how soybeans, wheat, salt, sunlight, fermentation, and time create one of Sichuan’s everyday flavors.
This final chapter connects two forms of patience: the patience of spiritual practice and the patience of traditional craft. After the experience, return to Chengdu.
*Important Note
Golden Summit timing may be affected by weather, shuttle bus flow, cable car queues, and mountain traffic. The Luomu Ancient Town experience should remain flexible and may be adjusted according to the actual descent time.

Why This Journey Matters

The value of this route lies in the cultural line it draws between sacred landscape and everyday life.
Leshan introduces the scale of Buddhist devotion through cliff, river, and mountain. Emei Shanju Monastery brings guests into the lived rhythm of practice — morning chanting, vegetarian meals, body cultivation, meditation, and quiet rest. The Golden Summit completes the mountain’s sacred dimension, while Luomu Ancient Town brings the journey back to Sichuan’s local life through the slow craft of traditional soy sauce making.
Together, these places form a journey of faith, body, time, and taste. It allows guests to understand Emei not only as a mountain to visit, but as a living cultural landscape shaped by Buddhism, practice, food, craft, and local memory.
